AWAKE, A Dream From Standing Rock - Free Film Screening

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the South Fork and PEER/NYPAN: Progressive East End Reformers’s Defend the Sacred committee will host a free screening of AWAKE, A Dream From Standing Rock on Thursday, May 4 at 7:00 p.m. The Water Protectors at Standing Rock captured world attention through their peaceful resistance that reinvigorated the ongoing struggle for clean water, our environment, and the future of our planet. The film is a collaboration between Indigenous filmmakers, Director Myron Dewey, Executive Producer Doug Good Feather and environmental Oscar Nominated filmmakers Josh Fox and James Spione. Kelly Dennis, Shinnecock tribal member, attorney, organizer of Indigenous Advocacy meetings, and co-chair of PEER’s Defend the Sacred committee will provide an introduction prior to the screening.
